Highlights

Itinerary

Day 1
Arrive Berlin
Well hi there new Snap family! Who's ready for the best 9 days of travel, local hangs, good times and, oh yeah, lessons in photography like you wouldn't believe? We'll be kicking off the adventure with a welcome dinner at the legendary Hofbrau Haus - think beer, schnitzels and lols - followed by an evening visit to Alexanderplatz and the TV tower for our first lesson in photography; learning how to both shoot at night AND take a killer pano shot.

Day 2
Berlin
Fuel up on breakfast this morning as we've got one big ol' day of Berlin exploring ahead of us. First up, we'll tour the city's best bits, stopping for photo ops at the Holocaust memorial, the Brandenburg gate and Checkpoint Charlie. We'll then take a humbling trip out to Sachsenhausen, a Nazi concentration camp where prisoners were kept from 1936-1945. Here we'll discover more about the brutal Nazi regime, documenting the experience in poignant black and white photography. Once back in the city you'll then have the afternoon free to wander and shoot as you please. Maybe you'll feel yourself graviating towards trendy Mitte or the hipster haven of Kreuzberg, or perhaps our optional Berlin tour is more your jam - think street art photography that includes the East Side Gallery, plus a progressive dinner that will see you eating at various stops throughout the city.

Day 3
Berlin to Prague
Catch you later Berlin, we've got some Prague shaped fish to fry…But not before stopping off in elegant Dresden for a lunch bite. Pulling into Prague late afternoon we'll hit the ground running with a walking tour through the Castle District, timing the light perfectly to put our newly learnt pano skills to effect as we capture the city's iconic skyline at dusk. Sun down, our focus will turn to night time shooting, capturing the gorgeously illuminated Charles Bridge whilst working up an appetite for our tatsy included dinner.

Day 4
Prague
The early bird may well capture the worm, but so does the photographer. Wake up bright and early for our sunrise photography session to learn the trick to capturing the first golden rays of the day. Heading back to the hotel for breakfast, you've then got an entirely free day to explore your fariytale surrounds. Do your own thing, or opt to join our cycling trip through the city, stopping off for regular shooting ops on route.

Day 5
Prague to Salzburg
Prague

Stock up on breakfast treats, then it's eyes to the green and grassy horizon as we make for Salzburg.

Berchtesgaden

Lunch stops don't come much more picturesque than this. Nestled in the Bavarian Alps on the Austrian border, Berchtesgaden is the town best known for the Eagle's Nest - a teahouse that was built for Adolf Hitler, and a work of engineering mastery thanks to it's elevation of 1834m above sea level. Today, you can take the specially adapted mountain bus up to the nest to enjoy 360 degree panoramic views of the surrounding alps. Next up: storybook Austria. Salzburg is famed for two things, Mozart and The Sound of Music, but you'll soon realise this magical town deserves your praise entirely in its own right. Our evening walking tour, accompanied by a Local Guide, will take us through Mirabel Gardens and into the streets of the old town, where classical music drifts from open windows. We'll stop by the resplendent Hohensalzburg castle lit up in all its night time glory (read - photographers dream), then dinner tonight is on us, with an optional food photography lesson for those who are keen. If you're looking to up your Insta food game, this is your chance.

Day 6
Salzburg to Ljubljana via Lake Bled
If chasing the morning light has got you hooked you've got free time this morning for more of the same. We'll be jumping on the coach around 11, so set your alarms accordingly. Rub your eyes all you want, this impossibly beautiful lake really is real. We'll be stopping off at Lake Bled for photo ops and an optional landscape photography workshop, so you can learn how to do photographic justice to this kind of natural beauty. Back on the coach, make sure you've got cameras at the ready as this entire Dolomites and Dracke region is pretty much magic. Slovenia's capital city and claimer of the coveted Green Capital of Europe title for 2016, Ljubljana is know for its minimalist design, gorgeous green spaces and thriving university population. We'll get you orientated with the city, then it's a free evening to go explore/eat/shoot/party/do whatever makes you happy.

Day 7
Ljubljana to Venice
Have a lazy morning in bed or join us for our optional Postojna Caves adventure. This 20km long and entirely natural karst cave system is the most visited cave in Europe, and a pretty bonkers sight when you think about it. Pulling into Venice early afternoon, we dare you not to feel tingles. Aside from the obvious beauty of the famed floating city, this place is literally made for photographers. Tumbling down buildings, tiny local restaurants spilling out onto the streets, pretty bridges everywhere, gondolas weaving along canals - this place will make any amateur look like a pro through subject matter alone. Obviously you'll be biting at the bit to head out exploring, so we've got a magical evening passegiata of Venice lined up for you, timed to captire those last rays of light. The rest of the night is then free to do Venice your way.

Day 8
Venice
With an entirely free day in Venice, the choice is yours as to where, how and when you go. Ask your Trip Manager for tips, or just make sure your camera has enough juice to last the day. Tonight we've got a final night treat lined up for you - a sunset photography session and tasty Italian feast over on Isola Burano, possibly Venice's prettiest and most colourful little island.

Day 9
Venice
One final brekkie and then that's a wrap (sob). We can't wait to see the results of your photography adventure - make sure you tag with #contiki so we don't miss a thing!
