Zoar Ranching Adventure

Discover the best of Western Massachusetts in 4 days!

Flying from Dublin to Bradley Hartford Airport is every travelers dream, the flight is 5 and a half hours on Aer lingus newest aircraft.  Bradley airport is a medium sized airport and getting through it is a breeze - from aircraft to the baggage hall takes 10 minutes!    Bradley is 90 minutes from Boston.

Day 1

Checked into the D hotel Suites & Spa in Holyoke, a boutique hotel with cozy décor and modern facilities in a comfortable setting.  We set of then to the Yankee Candle Village, the flagship store in South Deerfield MA. It is the Disneyworld of Candles, home accessories, collectable, toys, Christmas Decorations and much more.  The Yankee Candle Village is billed as the ‘Scenter of the Universe’.

Day 2

We set of Zoar Outdoor Adventure Resort offering the best in New England white water rafting trips, kayaking, zipline canopy tours, canoeing and rock climbing.  Zoar is only 2 hours from Boston and just 3 hours from Providence and New York City so it can be easily incorporated into a short trip.

Day 3

Tour of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame – for Basketball enthusiasts and non enthusiasts, this tour is not to be missed.  We learned how basketball was invented by James Naismith who was told to invent an indoor game as it was too cold to play outside during the winter of 1891. Afterwards we checked into MGM Springfield Hotel.

Day 4

We set off for the Amazing World of Dr Seuss Museum in Springfield.  Theodor Seuss Giesel aka Dr Seuss was a native of Springfield. Author of more than 50 books including Cat in the Hat and the Grinch, this museum is wonderful for children with lots of hand on exhibits but also interesting for adults.

Afternoon was spent at ‘The big E’.  Each fall brings the Big E to Western Mass.  The Annual New England Great State Fair is a 17 day extravaganza of exhibits, entertainment, agriculture and of course food.  With something for everyone, it’s no wonder that The Big E draws one million visitors annually to one of the country’s oldest and most revered fall festivals. We even got a ride on one the floats in the parade.
